By Farrah N. Khan, CQA, RQAP-GLP Northview Pacific Laboratories' Quality Assurance Department is taking an active role with several quality organizations. New systems, processes and ideas are always being introduced in the world of quality and it isn't an easy task to keep on top of all of them. One way that Northview keeps on track is to stress the importance of continued education. Our QA staff are not only members, but active participants in quality organizations such as:
American Society for Quality (San Francisco Section, Silicon Valley Section, Golden Gate Section)
Society for Quality Assurance (Pacific Regional Chapter)
Regulatory Affairs Professionals Society
Recently, a colleague and I attended the Pacific Regional Chapter of the Society of Quality Assurance's Fall/Winter Meeting in Seattle, Washington. The meeting, titled "It's Raining Regulations, Under the GxP Umbrella" was a refreshing blend of best practices, current trends, and regulatory updates.
The two day event was packed with information from consultants, instructors, and industry professionals. Here are some presentation titles:
Maintaining Data Integrity for Device and Combination Studies
Regulatory Issues in the Monitoring of Medical Device and Combination Product Studies
Data Integrity in Human Subjects Arena
Regulatory Forum Updates
Study Director Qualifications and Responsibilities
Audit Tips for Microbiological Methods
Non-clinical Study Monitoring: Project Management for GLP Study Operations
Report of Analysis-Is It Worth the Paper It Is Written On?
Data Integrity In Pathology Data
What Your Mother Never Told You About the GLPs
The outcome of attending such conferences is beneficial not only to the attendees but to the organization they are affiliated with. These conferences always get me to think about our current systems and processes and whether they can be improved by what I have learned. Sometimes not all practices are adaptable, but every now and then a light bulb will sparkle and I'll know I have found a better way. That is how I justify Northview as being the Service Leader!
